Dollars & Sense: $159,300
The Governor's salary is much too much for me. I've spent my life in dollar stores and discount grocers. I have no need for such a massive salary. However, with money comes the power to do more. If elected Governor of Michigan, I pledge to use this financial resource to better myself in order to better serve and represent you.
I'll Never Stop Learning
I have nearly no personal life outside of spending time with family. Using this salary, I will dedicate a large portion of my free time to attend a Michigan Institution of Higher Learning to further my studies, specifically studying Political Science, Economics, Sociology, and any other subjects that can provide me with new and better insights and knowledge to benefit the citizens of this state.
Stimulate Small Businesses
The small businesses of our state need and deserve all the help they can get. And both practically and philosophically, I will participate in helping. Not only will I promote legislation to better the ability for small businesses to find sustainable success, I will spend at least half of my salary during my four-year term at Michigan's small businesses and publicly post my receipts to prove it.
Pay What is Owed
Although I find that the student loan programs in our country do more to harm students than help them, accepting a loan comes with the responsibility of paying back what is owed. In my first year as Governor, I will pay off all student loans I have received as it will be the first time I am in a financial position to do so. I must do what is expected of everyone else.
