No More Talk, It's Time to Officially File and Declare My Candidacy
Yes, I am planning a run for the position of Governor of the State of Michigan. I will be regularly posting in this campaign journal to allow you not only a record of updates regarding the progress of my campaign, but also a window into the tireless efforts necessary by and hurdles an independent candidate must overcome in order to engage in this political process.
Although I have already begun preparing required documents for filing and developing campaign strategies, I have not made any official commitment to a candidacy. Today, I have submitted an official request to the Michigan Department of State Bureau of Elections for the complete filing information so I may register myself and my Candidate Committee ASAP and officially declare myself as a candidate (independents must go through a much more difficult process than partisan candidates).
I hope you all will—if you haven't already—give me an opportunity to win your support over the next 20 months of my campaign by engaging with me, holding me accountable for my ideas, statements, and actions, forcing me to be the best representative I can be for all citizens of this state, not just the majority needed to win. My campaign is not about winning—this is no game to me. The odds are stacked quite highly against me and should be obvious to all that it is highly improbable that I win the position of Governor. But I will run and I will run hard and do all I can to, at the very least, effect change in the policies that regulate the operations of our society and lives of our people...
ALL OF OUR PEOPLE.
Whether you're standing by me or not, I'm standing by you.
I look forward to your challenging me every single day along the way!
My Very Best,
Ryan Henry Cox
All Postings in the RHC Campaign Journal are the Direct Words of Ryan Henry Cox (The GoverNerd): Independent Candidate for the Office of Governor of Michigan
In the spirit of transparency, honesty, and the engagement of candidates with citizens, I want anyone and everyone interested in myself and this campaign to be able to see my own words on matters regarding my political positions, perspectives on issues, and intentions as a candidate. Hold me accountable for all I claim and all I stand for. Make me explain myself clearly, logically, and demand I offer credible sources—challenge me at every turn so I may represent all citizens of the great State of Michigan as accurately, fairly, and with the greatest equity. I promise to be genuine and trustworthy with and for all of our citizens. I'll hold myself to these principles, and hope you will hold me to them, as well.
